What's included in a compliance check
- RCD (safety switch) check: confirm the required RCD protection is installed, test each device and record the results
- Smoke alarm check: confirm the alarms are hardwired (mains-powered) where required, in date, correctly located and working
- Fix on the day: install missing RCDs or replace faulty or expired smoke alarms within your pre-approved limit, or quote first if you prefer (see switchboard upgrades)
- Report and documentation: results and photos for your file, and the compliance documentation to meet WA requirements when a property is leased or sold
- Tenant liaison: we contact tenants to arrange access, so you don't have to be the go-between
WA's rules for rentals and property sales cover RCD protection on power and lighting circuits and compliant smoke alarms. Building and Energy (WA Government) publishes the current requirements. Tell us whether the property is being leased or sold, and we'll check it against them.

How it works
- Send the work order: property address, tenant contact details and your approval limit.
- We arrange access with the tenant.
- Our licensed electrician tests the RCDs and smoke alarms and checks the installation.
- Anything missing or faulty is fixed on the day (within your limit) or quoted.
- You receive the report and compliance documentation.
Working with your agency
Agencies can set DCEA up as a preferred contractor, with work orders by email and reports sent straight back to the property manager. Urgent faults at managed properties are covered by our 24/7 after-hours line for real estate clients (emergency electrician).
